Thank you for looking me up on my web page.

I have been active on the bands for over 31 years. My main interest has been the
6 meter band. Since moving to my new location 90 km north of Melbourne. It’s a
perfect radio location, I an on 50 acres of rural land UP 800 mts elevation with no
noise the only problem that I can find is I hear most station that call but many can't
hear me but, It looks like that I will have to put up with it Ha Ha! I am now active
on 10 meters SSB, My equipment is ICOM IC-746 with a home brew 7 element yagi
with a 13 meter boom.

Over the last few years I have been monitoring 11 meters as a propagation indicator
I was surprise, I never understood this band, the level of DX activity has got me
interested, I love the challenge of trying to work those weak DX stations, Last
seasons I tried using my 10 meter 7 element yagi and found the front to back was
hopeless so I designed a 11 meter yagi, I use a very simple antenna design program
called Quickyagi V4.0 by Raibeam Antennas it is available on the web, I put it up
above my shed roof about 3 to 4 meters away from the steel roof it worked OK so I
thought and that is were I met Steve 43SW001, I found that Steve was working
stations that I could not hear I was a bit disappointed as I had built this BIG antenna
and it was not doing the job , with the help of Steve I did a few tests on the front to
back and it seemed to be putting the RF in the right direction, Steve suggested that
It may be to close to the roof. I gave his suggestion a lot of thought, I started to plan
the relocation of the antenna to the top of my tower I had to change every thing
around as I had my 3 element 30 meter yagi on the top I will show you all the things I
did in the photo album later, Anyway it is now in place 18 meters up, when I was talking
with Steve about antennas he told me he was using LDF450 coax as he has a long run,
I thought that was a bit of over kill so I decided to use some Hard line coax with a few
joins, I am not sure what has made the changes but now I can hear many EUROPEN
stations calling, and now I am back to not being heard, I am just waiting for Steve to
get back on air as he was flooded out during WINTER, to make some comparisons it is
now late November and I have had quit a few openings into Europe so I am now
SMILING again Look at my log below.

My observation between 10 & 11 meters when I have an opening on 11 meters into
Europe about 15 to 20 minuets after, I start copying beacons and stations on 10 meters
if you look at my log on 10 meters you will see what I am hearing and working, I find the
Australia beacons are nuisance to me but I wonder if any one in Europe could tell what
indicators they are using to indicating it is open into the Pacific!
